Our College Patron
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
St Mary MacKillop was canonised Australia’s first saint in 2010 in recognition of the great good she did for the poor and struggling in the early days of our country. You can read of her life on this link from the site of the sisters of St Joseph. http://www.sosj.org.au/who-we-are/index.cfm?loadref=105
St Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first Saint, was passionate about bringing education to the young from all sectors of society. She believed in the importance of educating the young from all walks of life to use their gifts to forge a better future for themselves and society. This is reflected in the College motto “Called to Life”.
We are a community of Faith that is grounded in the values of our first saint, an educator and a woman.
Therefore, Mary MacKillop Catholic College strives to empower young women to reach their potential by offering a wide range of academic and vocational courses to the HSC, as well as co-curricular activities and leadership and life skills. We are committed to ensuring that teaching and learning is of the highest quality. Teachers work in teams with mentors to explore a variety of teaching and assessment strategies. We encourage the young women to embrace opportunities to grow in their knowledge and faith and pave the way for them to become life-long learners and good global citizens.
