Students are offered leadership opportunities from Year 8 to Year 12.
The Senior Leadership Team consists of 14 senior students.
At the end of Term 3, students from Years 11 and 12 may apply to stand for the position of House Captain and House Vice Captain.
If their application is accepted, they prepare a formal speech, which is presented in front of the whole House. All members of that House conduct a secret ballot to vote in the captain and vice captain. The successful candidates may then choose to stand for the position of College Captain and College Vice Captain. They present their formal speech before members of the College Executive, staff and fellow peers.
The team attends two days of leadership training at Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney early in Term 4 and students choose to lead in one of the four portfolios of : Faith, Justice, Learning or Wellbeing. They are commissioned at Assembly. The Senior Leaders train the Leadership Council and work to promote the portfolio of their choice.
The College Captain and Vice Captain oversee all 4 portfolios.
The Leadership Council consists of 72 Homeroom representatives.
Students from Years 8-12 who wish to develop their leadership skills may apply to stand for the position in Term 4. After presenting a formal speech before their Homeroom peers, the students await the results of a secret ballot. The two successful candidates – a junior and a senior from each of the 36 Homerooms are trained by the Senior Leaders and House CoLs and commissioned at Assembly.
In recent months the Student Leaders have been reviewing and evaluating structures and in particular the effective functioning of the portfolios which were introduced for 2016. The results of this evaluation and the structures determined for 2017 will be published here in graphic form in the near future. Watch this space for the outcomes of student research and strategic thinking and they seek to support the Mission of the College.
